My Vet told me 10mg per 22 lbs. For smaller dogs, the childrens dose of 5 mg is fine (and grape flavored!!)
THIS IS TERRIBLE ADVICE ABOVE!! While 10mg per 22lbs is fine for such antihistamines such as diphenhydramine AKA BENADRYL is probably accurate, 10mg per 22lbs of say Loratadine AKA CLARITIN, is the human equivalent of 3x the daily adult dose. This can cause serious liver and kidney damage to your pet after just a few days of dosing. Don't listen to sites like this, because idiots like this person post information that can end up being harmful and expensive. Spend a little money and go pay some one who is trained, IE. your Vet
Unless instructed to by a vet, you don't.
Benedryl would be best to give a dog if he/she has Asthma, shortness of breathe and wheezing.
One tablespoon (not completely full) would be the correct dosage of Benedryl.
NO. Please see your veterinarian if your dog seems to have symptoms of an upper respiratory problem or Allergies, such as sneezing, coughing, difficulty breathing or harsh breath sounds, nasal discharge, or runny eyes. Dogs and cats should NEVER be given human medications, as their symptoms are often much different than ours, even in the same diseases, dosing for body weight is critically important, and even simple medicines like ibuprofen and acetaminophen can make animals critically ill to the point of death because their bodies metabolize these substances differently than we do. ALWAYS consult with your veterinarian if your animal seems to have a problem that you feel might improve with human medicines... you could be fatally mistaken.
None! If the packaging doesn't have a dose for dogs, then don't give it to them. Claritin is for human use and for human use only. Over the counter drugs are for people. If your pet is having issues, then go to the vet.
how much claritin can i give my dog. She constantly chews on her feet
a maximum of .5mg per kg of canine weight BID or twice per day.
Dosage varies by size, so you should consult your veterinarian before giving any medication to you pets.
Balls
Surprisingly enough, the answer is yes. Claritin is safe to use for dogs to relieve itching. Claritin-D should not be used on dogs, as it contains pseudoephedrine. Also, Claritin contains propylene glycol and should not be used on cats. Dosage for dogs is about half of the recommended human dosage for medium sized dogs, and about a quarter dosage for small dogs.
I'm not a vet, but I would say don't EVER give a dog any medication of any kind without clearing it with a vet. Dogs do NOT have human physiology. If for no other reason than the dosage is too difficult to calculate based on the dog weight in kilograms, etc., leave the prescriptions and medication choices to the veterinarian. If given too much, it can cause all kinds of problems for your dog, especially depending on the size of the dog. Contact a vet. Cats and dogs can and do take claritin for allergies but it is still best to talk to a vet first to determine the best dosage for your pet and possible interactions your vet might know about concerning your particular animal.
Yes it helps but it is pretty expensive so you can get the generic one as a prescription from a doctor for cheaper. I think claritin charges to much
can you take naproxen and then claritin
No! Claritin is eye drops for blurriness.
You can take Claritin-D with Atenolol.
can you take ceftin and claritin together
can I take Claritin and Nyquil together
No, claritin D contains an antihistamine and a decongestant.
It shows the keflex did not work, and you will likely need a different antibiotic which i why I suggest avelox. Claritin does not cause drowsiness or increase your blood pressure, so you may take it safely. You should avoid claritin-D because it increases blood pressure. Claritin and claritin-D are different drugs, claritin is for allergies while claritin-D is for allergies and decongestion of your nose and sinuses
Please call your veterinarian. The normal dose for an adult person is 10mg, so 20mg is a lot for such a small animal.
