Until shortly before 1994 benches in parks were for Whites Only. The best beaches had signs: Whites Only and then beneath it was written in Afrikaans: Net Blankes. Whites only in cinemas and restaurants, even some shops had separate entrances for whites and Non Whites. There was a form of job reservation, some jobs were for whites only. There were always four public loos; White Males, White Females, Non White Males, Non White females. It was horrific! Discrimination at it's very worst.
