The best way to give your writing a personal touch, show your interest, and provide concrete details is to tell a little story example of how something happened to you or someone close to you. For example, if you're writing about why a certain kind of dog or cat is great, tell a little story about your own dog or cat of that kind. Do it something like this: "For example, my cat is a Siamese, and like some other Siamese cats, it is cross-eyed. But it still can find it's way around the house, and when I toss it a bag of catnip, it can catch it in the air."
