In the U.S there is no debtors prison which means you can't go to jail for a debt owed (i'm assuming you owe car payments). However they will get you eventually, they can't come in your garage but they have spotters who will tell if you are seen at a gas station, store or god forbid on a date at a movie theatre, and when they do they'll grab your car quicker than you can imagine.
Yes, it is a felony.

"hiding" or 'hindering" the recovery of property subject to a lien is against the law in all states. Some states, its a felony, some a misdemeanor. Dont do it and you have NO worries.
A repo guy is likely to say anything to get your car. If he's looking for it, you owe the money and he gets to take the car. Hiding it in the garage will keep him at bay for only a short time. Whether or not you have homeowner's insurance does not factor into the equation.
Yes, and not just Virginia, but in any state. If you stillowe money to the finance company for the car, they can arrest you for "Concealment ofProperty for Security Interest". This can happen even if they have alreadyrepossed the car.
Car insurance is required in California. If you do not have insurance and are caught you may be subject to a fine as well as possible time in jail. Insurance can be found for a reasonable price

Yes In most places hiding the car from the repo man is illegal. If he is sure the car is in there he can enter a storage place and reposes the car. But he is not allowed to intimidate or do violence to the person or property damage to make the repossession.
A house for a car would be called a garage.
