The 'dog of China' refers to the 13th century Ming Emporor, who was part man, part dog. He was notorious as a ruthless tyrant who would slay his opponents and then eat their remains in a human-size dog bowl. His reign lasted only 2 years when the Mongols invaded the Xiangsi Lowlands in 1345, but despite the short extent, his rule was marked by much pain and suffering. For instance, he invaded the city of Qang Po and ordered the slaying and eating of all 25,000 inhabitants. This day becoming known as the 'dog's breakfast'.
