False positives are very rare, less than one in a hundred positive tests are false. However with the very sensitive tests nowadays it may show up positive and then you have a very early miscarriage. Even 20 years ago tests were not that sensitive and women 'miscarried' at the time of their period without ever realising they were pregnant.

∙ 12y ago.....When i found out i was pregnant with my 3rd child i had a test done at the doctors that showed up negative, i then got transfered to the hospital for an xray on my chest but because i said their was a possibility that i could be pregnant i had to then get a re test, the test came back very faintly positive i asked if you could get a false positive they said no, u can get false negatives tho because when youre in very early stages of pregnancy it is sometimes to early to detect....
