Yes. The physical strain of childbirth causes pressure on the lower bowel, and flatulence is possible. In many cases the woman may also need to urinate and or excrete at some stage during the labour, after all this can be quite a long time period.

When the baby's head is near delivery, it compresses the lower portion of the bowel, often pushing out faeces, so any gases will also be expelled.
