Try Club Penguin, it's varely child friendly, and is run by Disney. It's free to sign up, however you can purchase things in-game using real money, so be a little careful there, although you would need a credit card number anyway. Club Penguin is kinda like IMVU, you dress up your penguin, and walk around chat rooms, talking to other penguins. Explict language is blocked, so it's a pretty friendly enviroment. I recommend you check it out.
