I want to put my xbox360 in my room to play on xbox live. Right now it is in my living room because my t.v needs the router to be connected. So if i got another router and put it in my room can i connect it to my xbox.

No, what i did is i took the ethernet cable that came with my xbox, connected it to my laptop, and connected my laptop to the internet via wireless router. The only other way that doesn't involve a wireless adapter for your 360 is to connect your 360 to your computer via an ethernet cable (not sure if you need a router for this but i might as well list it), but the laptop-connect is the "most effecient/cheapest" way, and the adapter-connect is the "best connection/signal" way.

If you do have a wireless router on, you don't need any other computer to be on, say if you have a laptop downstairs, and a computer with the router upstairs, the computer can be off, but the router has to stay on, and you can access the internet using the laptop from downstairs, if you have a good enough signal.
