I don't see why not, as long as you don't mind paying two payments instead of one and as long as you don't try to get paid twice for the same loss. Heck, you could probably have ten or fifteen policies on one home if you wanted to. However, you can not be paid twice for the same loss. if you try to file a claim on both policies for the same loss that would be a felony called insurance fraud. The thing to consider here is: At what point does the amount of money you pay into the policy(ies) make it no longer worth it to keep paying them?

AnswerAlso, if you have more then one policy on your home, then if anything should happen to the home you're going to get looked at a lot harder by the authorities for evidence of insurance fraud. AnswerYes, however, the amounts of the policies cannot exceed the value of the property.

Is it legal for the bank to require you to purchase home owners insurance for 3 times the value of the loan?

Your homeowners insurance in the United States must by law cover the value of the home being insured with no more than a 20% deviation. This may be more or less than the amount of your loan. No insurer will knowingly sell you a home insurance policy below the home value as such an insurance contract would be invalid. Homeowners insurance is for the home, not for the loan. You can purchase your homeowners insurance based on actual cash value of the home or on the replacement cost of the home. If you only want to insure a mortgage loan amount, that's what mortgage insurance is for.

What is the minimum amount of homeowners insurance you need on a home in Florida?

There actually is no legal requirement that says you must have homeowner's insurance. However, most mortgage companies will require you to have a policy that at a minimum covers the remaining amount of the mortgage. This will depend on the regulations of each individual insurance company. Some specialize in low value dwelling policies. Others have rather high minimum coverage amounts. Be carefull and read the terms of the policy. Most all homeowners policies have penalties if you do not insure it for a certain percentage of either actual cash value or replacement cost depending on the policy.

Can you have more than one life insurance policy?

Answer Yes. The question is not how many policies you have, but the total amount compared to your needs . You can also have different policies from different companies. What is the best way to insure jewelry?

My recommendation for insuring Jewelry is to schedule each item specifically on a Homeowners or Renters insurance policy.Homeowners and Renters insurance policies do provide a limited amount of coverage automatically in most states, but the coverage is very limited, often not more than $5,000 total loss with a per item limit of $1,000.By scheduling a piece of jewelry you are ensuring coverage on a All Risk basis. The first step is to get an appraisal from a Jeweler than give that appraisal to your insurance professional who will add the piece of jewelry to your homeowners or renters insurance policy. There are other ways and others policies but this is my recommendation
