When a program is installed, there are two vital parts to it:
-the files part where the files are copied onto the hard drive
-the registry file to "register" the programs and possibly connect those programs inside a computer.
So yes, it is possible to copy the files to the hard drive but it is not possible to copy the registry files into a storage drive. (It needs an operating system). However, it is still highly possible to run these programs on different PCs
There are also "portable" version of programs on internet that can be used without installing, thus allowing for a use through a storage device.
You can backup program data on a tape drive, but it is not recommended to run applications or programs from a tape drive. It is impractical because of the very high "seek times." A tape drive is geared more towards backup and storage.
You cannot. You must install the program on the system hard drive.
That means you've run out of storage space. Either get a bigger storage drive or delete unwanted programs.
If you have a mouse, you can right click the mouse and drag the flash drive from the flash drive icon to the computer screen or to a folder on your computer. You can also do copy and paste. If it is an install of a program, you can click on the program that downloads the installation program and tell it where on the computer you want the program installed.
If your main drive is your C drive then you shouldn't install any software on the D drive because it is a recovery drive. A recovery drive is where Windows creates backup files for System Recovery and stores the backup. If you absolutely NEED to install the software, here are the instructioins. 1.Run the installer. 2.Go to the part where it asks you where to install the program. 3.If it has a preset path(ie. C:\program files\ProgramName) change it to a directory in the D drive or the D drive it self(ie. D:\) 4. Install. If you followed through you SHOULD have the program in there. If any damage of any form happens, WikiAnswers.com and I are NOT responsible for it. I hope this helped and have a nice day :)
It sounds like you are trying to install a program, and it needs the data disk to be put into A Drive.
Hard Drive
If a program's executable file or setup / install files are not saved to the harddrive, no, the program will not run without the disk in the disk drive.
To install a fresh operating system? Formatting a storage device (internal or external hard-drive, USB stick, etc) empties the stored data and the clean drive can be used again.
Some programs can just be copied from one drive to the other. However, most programs will not work this way. You will probably have to uninstall the program from your master drive and then install it on your slave drive using the program's installation disk.
A computer external hard drive is a storage device that is connected externally to a computer. It is possible to learn how to install a computer external hard drive though websites such as eHow, or by attending an appropriate college course.
you have to move the file to your computer 1st from your flash drive. then you should be able to install
