yes you can and i know because i did it this will only work if your computer supports SATA drives 1. buy a vantec external hard drive 2. use the SATA plug that comes with it to plug it in 3. restart your computer to enter the setup 4. install onto your hard drive CAUTION make sure you dont overwrite your computer hard drive then your done you can then remove the HD from the case with a screwdriver and install it into your computer
if it is an external SATA drive then yes, otherwise it is not suggested and rarely works.
yes
Install Operating Patches and Install Hotfixes.
Most SCSI cards have both internal and external connectors. I don't believe that software will know the difference between a device hooked up externally and one hooked up internally.
It could mean that the external HD is formatted with a file system that your OS can not access. If thisa is the case, either reformat the HD with an appropriate file system or install and boot to another Operating System (and maybe be unable to acess the files you already have on your computer)
You could put the installation file on the external HDD to install it on another computer but then to install it, it would have to be on a local HDD.
Carefully.
You cannot do that. You can install the program itself on an external drive by it should be connected all the time if you want to use virus guard. If you have a virus guard which you trust on your PC you don't need to have it all your external drives. When you have connected an external drive run full scan on it.
Some motherboards support boot from external USB drive amd/or eSATA. You need to check BIOS settings (the external drive should connected) to make sure that your computer is capable to do so. It the motherboard is capable then you can install operating system on the external drive (if it's an usb drive be ready for low performance).
Linux is considered the easiest to learn and to install.
