Yup! As a matter of fact I'm doing it right now. However, you can only do it a couple ways. You must buy and amp that has 2 inputs. One of which should be called line level. This way you can splice a wire into your current speaker wires (using the back speakers is the best) that will then go to the amp and give it the signal. Otherwise if you don't have an amp with line level input you can buy a line level input converter that you will also splice into the speaker wiring but this little device will put out a signal level input (RCA). However, when working with this kind of a car, it is a PAIN to find a place to feed your wire through the firewall. So my question is if you could just splice into the power wire to the factory amp in the back? But yea, all in all, you can do it!
NO
if you are trying to install the factory stereo to it...it should be the same plug...if you are trying to install the stereo for a cougar on a different car you need to buy the plug for that stereo and then a harness for the other car...
Go to your local Canadian tire and buy a plug that goes from stereo harness to your stock harness!
you need to buy the wire harness for the car itself then you need to connect it to the stock wire harness, after that, you need to go ahead and strip it and wire it to your new CD players harness and then you will need to screw in and install the new head unit.-Shocker

Well if you have a stock deck the first thing you need to do is make sure you buy a dash install kit with the after market deck you want to install. The stock stereo comes out easily after you remove the two screws on the side of the panels that hold the deck in place. The screws are by the drivers right foot and the other is by the passengers left foot.
all I need is what the color codes from the stock wire harnes to connect to the new one
06 impala ss, stock to stock.

well if your talking about a CD deck then yes i still have my stock one but i have a systemhooked up in mine...so yes you can install a new stero
There is not one from the factory, you will need to install a product that sits between the harness and the stereo, like this: http://www.pie.net/pie_store/shopexd.asp?id=10&bc=no
if your asking if you can put subwoofers on the stock radio then no you have to have an aftermarket radio
