If you can get a license for it in your country, then yes, you can keep one as a pet. There is one named Burmani, born in Germany and currently living in England. They are trainable as hunting animals and tamable as domestic pets - Burmani has none of his hunting instincts remaining.
Cheetahs were once widely hunted for their fur, and are an endangered species due to prey and habitat loss (they do not adapt well to new environments).
