Yes, but it would live a little longer and happier if you gave it a friend i have 2 small hermies in a ten gallon tank they are on their third year
Yes, hermit crabs don't usually fight. You could give the new hermit crab a bath so that it smells the same as the other hermit crab in you tank.
It's term 'hermit' is not because it doesn't like other hermit crabs. The hermit crab actually loves being with other hermits. It is called hermit crab because it is only one hermit crab in the shell. It's term 'hermit' is not because it doesn't like other hermit crabs. When ever a hermit crab grows out of its old shell it finds a new one to call home. There is no set amount of times a hermit crab will change its shells. The hermit crab will only change shells if it has grown to big for its original one. Otherwise, the hermit crab will not change shells. It all depends on the hermit crab's growth rate and size.
It is considered a limb, not an arm. And the loss of a limb does not necessarily mean the hermie crab has died, but is a hermit crab that is very stressed. One needs to double check their tank perimeters to make sure they are correct.
there are many species of hermit crab which one do you mean?the common hermit crabs species is bernhardus
Try to get another shell that you have that is simmilar to the original one. Then I would pit the hermit crab in a small tank with the new shell ans see that he gets into it.
It depends on the hermit crab but I would personally say just to be careful No the big one might hurt or bully the smaller crab.
yes i use to have one and we kept him in a tiny plastic cage but no netting on the edge make sure its safe though it probably depends on the crab. If it is a small crab you could put it in a plastick cage, but when it gets older and bigger you might want to change it. good luck!!
no we had over ten hermit crabs in one cage and they were all fine.:) since they are both different sizes you should keep an eye on them but you shouldn't worry because hermit crabs are very social animals.
A shell provides protection and shelter for a hermit crab, which uses it as its home. The hermit crab carries the shell on its back and can move to a larger one as it grows. This symbiotic relationship benefits both the hermit crab and the shell.
Hermit crabs change shells once and a while so put about maybe 3 or 2 per hermit crab.I have my own hermit crab and i thought this question. But my hermit crabs havent been changing shells a lot.And make sure you use the right size because hermit crabs dont change shells if that shell is to small or to big or have holes in it.Have Fun With Your Hermit crab
One sure sign that will yell you that the hermit crab is in abundance is the fact that you can readily by one at most pet shops.
