Can you keep your house in a chaper 7?

Do you have a right to? No. May it happen..possibly. In big picture: If you don't have (much) equity, that is the home isn't worth more than the loans against it....AND you can satisfy the other creditors you owe, without needing the court to reduce what you owe them...you can probably keep it. (Obviously, if your behind on mortgage payments, that too is a problem). You cannot expect to have your obligation to pay others what you contracted and owe discharged or reduced, and for you to keep things of value that could have been used to pay them! (Wouldn't seem very fair for them to lose their houses because they can't pay their mortgage because you didn't pay them...but you get to keep your valuables). Certainly, someplaces homestead laws may afford you some protection for a reasonable amount of that equity.

How long can the police keep you in jail if you are not gulity?

The police do not keep you in jail, the court does. The court will keep you in jail - or temporarily free on bail - until your "not guilty" status is confirmed by a court. Either the prosecution fails to prove you guilty or prosecutors drop the charges. When the court confirms you are not guilty, you are immediately freed.

If a foreclosure lawsuit is filed against you and a default judgment entered and you file a Chapter 7 before auction and foreclosure fraud is discovered can you keep your home if surrendered?

If the home has been sold to a third party, you cannot keep it. If the home has not been sold, you may be able to keep it, but you will have to pay the mortgage arrears, including legal fees and costs unless a court orders otherwise. You may still have problems paying the mortgage, so think about whether you can afford to keep it.
