You can carry a rat around in your pocket for a little while, infact many rats enjoy this, some even fall asleep in your pocket. A better place to put them is your shoulder though, and walk round the house so they can see what is going on. You shouldn't take the rat out and about with you on your daily business though and you also need to be careful the rat won't overheat, so don't put it in there on a hot day. Also, don't put the rat in there if it doesn't seem to like it, and only keep him or her in there for a few minutes. Like I said, a shoulder is a better place to put your rat really, he will see and enjoy it more. Some people buy special rat carrying pouches or bags so their rat can be carried around with them. You can buy these off special rat websites like ratwarehouse. Don't use your pocket to transport your rat anywhere long distance, they should be transported in a special pet carrier with food and water availiable. So to sum up, your rat might like to sit in your pocket for fun short term, but don't keep it in there for long and let it come out when he likes. Also, always supervise and know where your rat is at all times.
