The 7.62x25mm is a fairly small pistol cartridge. While it MAY kill a deer, it is too small to do so reliably, and most states will not permit it. Even where the law permits it, it should not be used- it does not have the energy to reliably provide a humane kill, and is most likely to wound the deer.

∙ 11y agoOriginally I obtained a 25 - 06 for antelope, however we moved east of their range. I have used one for years on white tail. I have taken deer as close as 50 yards and up to 450 yards. The 25 - 06 is accurate enough for the neck shot and powerful enough for the heart shot. The ammo comes in various factory loads, grains and bullet types. I personally use Remington 100 grain for most situations.
