If you have the time and money, it's possible. Typically, it'll be a lot more which goes into it than is worth it. You'll have to find a suitable live axle to replace the rear axle, and you'll probably have to replace the entire drivetrain, as well - especially if you have a car with a transaxle, as the all wheel drive would require either an AWD transfer case (this is the system used in AWD SUVs, typically), or a differential connected to the differentials of each axle (Subarus use this system).
