Yes if you were to put in a one ton rear end for the longer wheel studs and bolt patterns. But it would make no sense to do so if you do not have a one ton frame, no real use for it if your frame drive train and braking is not good enough for hauling more weight.

Yes. Your best bet is to get an axle out of a dually from the same year. If you can get the drive shaft and springs as well. Many 2500's have a Dana 70, while the 3500 has a Dana 80. This will make your drive shaft too long. We just did this and found out the hard way. You will also need an extension on the parking brake cable. The dually fenders are just a bolt on part.

Removal of the wheel, caliper, caliper bracket, as well as the axle are required. Its really not as bad as it sounds. Just eight extra bolts for the axle, and eight more for the dually "adapter". Just make sure you top off the rear diff fluid when you finish up (in case some spilled when you slid the axle out)
