no! it causes the cyclizine to precipiate out of solution and blocks lines either iv or subcut. this can cause unnecessary stress and anguish to the patient as lines are required more often etc, use water for injection instead or a low % dextrose solution.
if using a syringe driver water for injection MUST be used rather than saline otherwise your causing unnecessary distress to your patient as lines get needing changing more frequently.
hope that helps,
sammy

Ceftriaxone is typically mixed with sterile water for injection or isotonic saline solution for intravenous administration. It should not be mixed with dextrose solutions as it can cause precipitation. Always follow the specific instructions provided by the prescribing healthcare provider or pharmacist.
Saline is not a compound or an element; it is a solution of salt (sodium chloride) dissolved in water.
Dexamethasone can be mixed with sterile water for injection or normal saline for intravenous administration. It should not be mixed with other medications unless specifically instructed by a healthcare provider or pharmacist.
Yes, saline can freeze. Saline is a solution of salt dissolved in water, and the freezing point of saline is lower than that of pure water. Therefore, saline can freeze at temperatures below 0 degrees Celsius.
can you take cyclizine hydrochloride when pregnant?
yes
Cyclizine can be administered intravenously (IV) by diluting the appropriate dose in a suitable diluent, such as normal saline or dextrose, before injection. The typical adult dose is 50 mg, given slowly over 1-2 minutes to minimize side effects. It’s important to monitor the patient for any adverse reactions during and after administration. Always follow your institution's protocols and guidelines when administering medications.
Cyclizine is used for motion sickness and vomiting. It is taken 30 minutes before departure and can be repeated every four to six hours as needed.
Cyclizine works by blocking histamine receptors in the brain, which helps to prevent or relieve symptoms of nausea and vomiting. It also has anticholinergic properties, which contribute to its antiemetic effects.
It is generally not recommended to mix sterile water and bacteriostatic saline together as they serve different purposes. Bacteriostatic saline contains an added preservative to inhibit bacterial growth, which could be disrupted if mixed with sterile water. It's best to use each solution independently for their intended uses.
the only difference i found was that meclizine is not given to < 12 year old, only to 12 and older. cyclizine is given to age 6-12 and not <6 years old.
Lorazepam and cyclizine can be given together, but this should be done with caution and under medical supervision. Lorazepam is a benzodiazepine used for anxiety and sedation, while cyclizine is an antihistamine used for motion sickness and nausea. Combining these medications may increase the risk of sedation and drowsiness. Always consult a healthcare provider before combining medications.

Cyclizine tablets are not intended for injection, and it is unsafe to prepare them for this purpose. The formulation of tablets is different from that of injectable medications, and improper preparation can lead to severe adverse reactions or complications. If injectable cyclizine is needed, it is essential to use a commercially available injectable formulation prescribed by a healthcare professional. Always consult a qualified medical provider for appropriate medication administration.
Cyclizine degrades primarily through hydrolysis and oxidative processes, which can be influenced by factors such as pH, temperature, and light exposure. In aqueous solutions, cyclizine may undergo hydrolytic breakdown, leading to the formation of various metabolites. Additionally, exposure to oxidative agents can facilitate further degradation, resulting in the loss of its pharmacological activity. The specific pathways and rates of degradation can vary depending on the environmental conditions.
