No, the Arctic fox is a wild animal and shouldn't be kept as pets.

Of course the question is "can you" not "should you."

Actually, yes, you can keep an arctic fox as a pet. It is completely legal in the US to buy a domesticated fox cub from a breeder and take it into your home. Whether or not your state allows it is another story.

In the United States, it is completely legal to have an artic fox as a pet. Some states have special rules and regulations about exotic pets, such as foxes, so you may want to call your local "Wildlife and Game" office and see what is legal in your area.

Before you even consider adopting a pet fox from a licensed breeder, PLEASE do your research on the species you want. Talk to other Artic Fox owners online, and figure out if you're a even a good candidate for adopting a fox cub. Just because you want a fox, doesn't mean you are right for it.

Definitely not! wild animals are not meant to be pets!

I dont think that is a true statement or a informed one.

We currently have a female artic/timber wolf mix she is going on three years old her name is Shoshonee and she is a great pet she is very sociolable loves to play listens you can take the food right out of her mouth. the only drawback is that she isnt very other animal friendly. but that is because she wasnt raised around other animals. And that is not her fault but ours for not knowing at the time. She is very loyal protective of our home and family.I personally wouldnt trade her for anything she is part of our family. Any breed can get a bad rap by misinformation. Wolves are not for everybody they do take a strong personaility to control them so dont let them be the alpha and they will follow you to hell and back.

It depends on where it came from and how you handle it. If it came directly from the wild, it would not make a good pet. On the other hand, if it was tamed and domesticated, I bet it would make an awesome pet. : )

The arctic fox is considered a native species and therefore it NOT legal to keep as a pet in Scaborough, Ontario. Red fox and Grey fox are also native and not allowed. If you really want a fox, consider one of the 10+ non-native species or a hybrid or ranch colored fox. But before you do, contact your municipality to make sure it will be permitted.
