Most fire alarm products state that you shoud not paint over the fire alarm detector. This could ruin the sensor, and if it's broken, the company would probably blame you or charge you extra for doing something that they told you not to do. Idealy, you shouldn't do it in any case. The fumes could damage the sensor's components inside.

So no, not really!

How fire alarm work without using sensor?

Some simple fire alarms do not have sensors but require a person to notice smoke or fire conditions and manually trigger the alarm. Some commercial systems without "sensors" have switches connected to other devices that indicate when a fire is in progress, such as water flow in the fire sprinklers or fire extinguisher triggered in a commercial cooking hood.In those cases, the "sensors" are part of another system that happens to be tied to the fire alarm.

What will happen to the output devices connected to the Fire Alarm System if more than 5 to 10 fire detectors triggered at a time or one after the other?

There should be no effect upon the output of any fire alarm due to the number of sensors that are triggered. A fire alarm is a fire alarm, whether it's one sensor or ten.In theory, a monitored system with more than one or two sensors triggered could escalate the response. When the dispatcher tells people, "Smoke alarm activation", it might get a different response than, "Multiple detectors, more coming each minute...", which could indicate a fast-moving fire.

Does a fire alarm have a sensor?

Fire alarms have various sensors. Everything from gauges that determine if water is flowing through pipes, to detectors that contain trace amounts of radiation that ionize causing alarms. They can have heat sensors with varied temperature settings, to valve sensors that ensure that water or suppression systems are not isolated.

Are fire alarms and smoke detectors the same thing?

The terms can sometimes mean the same thing: a self-contained smoke detector with a built-in fire alarm. However, they are technically different and can be obtained in many types.A fire alarm SYSTEM can contain smoke detectors, heat detectors, manual pull stations and other sensors related to fire protection, including switches that say the fire sprinklers or the commercial kitchen fire extinguisher has activated. All of these sensors and switches are wired to a fire alarm control panel that monitors them constantly for electrical trouble or for alarm conditions, relaying the alarm message to bells, sirens, strobe lights and maybe even calling the fire department. Most people say "smoke detector" when they mean "self-contained smoke alarm". The smoke alarm does not usually connect to anything other than maybe another smoke alarm or two, so they all make noise when there is a fire, but someone still has to remember to call the fire department.

How much is fire alarm load?

The power load of a fire alarm will depend upon how many components are connected. A single smoke alarm may be a very small load on the AC power. However, a more sophisticated alarm panel with multiple sensors and annunciators (horns, strobes) and fire-alarm release systems (panic hardware release, fire doors, extinguisher systems) may require a lot of power. As a general rule, any alarm and function required by the fire code is also required to have a backup power source, whether from a battery or a motor-generator set.

What is the difference between 'Class A' fire alarm vs 'Class B' fire alarm wiring?

In class A wiring, 2 wires start from alarm control panel terminal, run through fire sensors / detectors and the same 2 wires run back into the alarm control panel and get connected as 2 more wires thus there would be 4 wires at the panel totally. This would help the control panel monitor all the sensors / detectors even if a loop wire breaks in the middle. In Class B wiring, the control panel is just connected to 2 wires. These 2 wires run through fire sensors / detectors and terminate at end of line resistor. Thus if any wire breaks in between the sensors that are connected to control panel end of wire would only be monitored. The broken wire side of sensors won't be monitored

If a residential alarm system has window sensors, can the windows be opened without setting off the alarm?

You can deactivate the window sensors while the windows are open.

What is fire alarm control system?

The fire alarm control system (or control panel) "FACP" is the portion of a fire alarm system that monitors remote sensors, determines when there is an alarm condition, activates the alarm and possible other actions. The FACP can trigger release of fire doors, release exterior locks on access doors or hatches, start or stop ventilation systems, start a fire pump, phone a monitoring center to request the fire department, among other things. One thing a FACP can do in a specific high-hazard occupancy is to start the deluge sprinkler or fire extinguisher system. Ordinary fire sprinklers are heat activated individually.

How does a fire sprinkler valve water flow alarm actuate?

There are several different types of water-flow alarms:paddle-wheel gong, where flowing water directly turns a clapper on a bell;pressure-drop sensors, which activate an electrical alarm when a sprinkler opens;water-flow sensors inside pipes, which activate an electrical alarm; andwater-presence sensors that detect water in a pipe where it normal is excluded.Other types of sensors simply detect when a valve is moved to a new position, either manually or automatically.
