Yes and no. You CAN plant trees up there, and it WOULD work, but due to the extreme difference in temperature, and there being no water, it wouldn't grow.
If we can find a way to make mars warmer, and can put water on it one way or another, then it'll be different.

we can but with oxygen tanks. but its because it does not have any water or good soil to plant fruits or vegetables or trees so we could breathe mars however we could live on because it has good soil and known to have water so first astronauts have to plant trees and food so trees produce oxygen so we could breath and food to eat.

You leave the process to the nature. Just plant trees on that soil. If the trees will not grow, you select herbs or even weeds. In long run, any soil will be converted to a fertile soil.
