Yes, you can. Just insert the Gamecube disc into the Wii as you would a Wii game, and on the game channel, the Gamecube logo will show up. Click on the game channel and click "Start" to begin the game.
You will need Gamecube controllers to play Gamecube games, however. Plug the controller into the top of the Wii to be able to use the Gamecube controller.

∙ 15y agoNo, the Wii is a newer Nintendo console whose games use more advanced hardware functionality that only the Wii provides. You *can*, however, play Gamecube games on the Wii because the Wii was designed to be backwards compatible (it includes all the hardware/software necessary to run the older Gamecube games including Gamecube memory card slots and controller ports).

∙ 10y agoUnfortunately, no it can not. The Wii U has backwards compatibility with Wii games, but it does not go back 2 generations. This is unfortunate, but sometimes, sacrifices must be made.
