The 2006 Ford F-150 Owner Guide shows :
With engine oil filter change
( 6 quarts ) for the 4.2 liter V6
3.4 to 4 quarts.
2004 is 4.4 quarts but I have put 5 in to get the oil level correct on the dipstick.
That should be 6 quarts with the filter change. That should be 6 quarts with the filter change.
For the 4L engine its 6 quarts of 10w30.
Approx 8 quarts. Put 7.5 in and check the dip stick. Best -
I usually put in 3.5 quarts to start, then check the dipstick. Ultimately it only takes about 4 quarts. Of course, this is for the 2.3L engine in the hatchback.
According to the 2006 Ford Explorer Owner Guide : For the 4.6 litre V8 engine : With engine oil filter change : ( 6.0 U.S. quarts of 5W-20 engine oil )
I don't know if it's the same as the (1996 ) Ford F-150 straight six but that is ( 6 quarts with engine oil filter change )
4.2 quarts.
4.5 quarts with new oil filter
should be 5 quarts w filter change, put in 5, then start it, check for oil leaks at drain plug & filter gasket, then shut off engine, let set for 5 minutes and check oil dipstick, add accordingly to full mark.
