An LED bulb that replaces a basic bulb must have the same working voltage and the same type of fitting.
A 10.5 watt LED will draw less power and produce less heat than a 40 watt incandescent, but not all LEDs are dimmable.
Three common lamp bases are candelabra, intermediate and mogul. It sounds like you are asking about an intermediate base. It is the common house hold bulb that is used in lamps and fixtures around North American homes.
There is no direct cross over replacement for the halogen bulb. The pin configurations are different. The halogen bulb has pins whereas the LED lamp is an intermediate screw in base. The LED bulb uses an intermediate base so that it can be screwed into a regular household fixture as a direct replacement for the old incandescent type bulb.
If you are talking about the support that holds the lampshade to the lamp base it is called a "lamp harp".
what is the differance between a medium base buld and a standard base bulb?No difference. They are one and the same. They are regular household type bulbs.
You should be able to use a self ballasted lamp in a regular socket safely as long as you do not exceed the wattage recommendations of the fixture. Self Ballasted simply means that the electronics to drive the flourescent bulb are all contained withing the packaging of the lamp. I hope this cleared up the question. Ben M. The light bulb is inside the lamp base, right?so, when you turn on the lamp, the light shines THROUGH the lamp base, although dimmer, so you can se both. if you took the lamp base off, the light bulb would look brighter.

because you just can
Remove the lava lamp by lifting up the glass. It separates from the base because it just sits in it. Unscrew the old bulb and screw another one in. When you remove the bulb you will notice that the bulb and base may not be the size of a standard household bulb. On the inside of the base, or the bottom of the base, there should be information about the type and wattage of the bulb. You need to get the same type of bulb to insure that the bulb base will screw into the socket. The wrong type bulb may not fit in the socket or the bulb may be too large and the top of the lamp will not fit properly on the base. If you get the wrong wattage, the bulb may not be hot enough or to hit to make the bulb function properly.
A gooseneck lamp is a lamp with a long flexible "neck" between the lamp base and the bulb. They make good reading lights as they can be bent to shed light just where it is required.
Your lampshade may not the right size for the lamp. A good lamp store can help you select a lamp shade that suits the lamp. Another consideration is the height of the table in reference to the seat next to it.
None, unless there's a radio or someting else built into the lamp base.
I don't think it will fit. Do they both have a medium base size?
As long as the base configuration is the same then, yes the bulbs can be interchanged.
