It depends... If you have an X-Box, you have to make an X-Box account, and then buy the gold version of X-Box Live; if you have used up all 3 of your free trials;( Make sure you have your X-Box connected to the internet through a cable or a wireless connection if you have wifi.). Once you get through all of that CPU confusing talk, go on you COD game and play online. For every other console, like PS3, you just make an account, go on the game, and play online.
I personally prefer the X-Box even though you have to pay, but credit to PlayStation for letting there clients play online for free.
