If it is a captive bead ring (CBR), it has to be professionally removed, so then you would have to go to a tattoo parlor or piercing salon and have them remove it (they use pliers, so do not try to do it yourself), and then you can have either another style of CBR put in, a curved barbell, a circular barbell, or sometimes a clicker hoop thing.
