.Catholic AnswerThere were so many heresies, and individual heretics over the past two thousand years that one would be hard pressed to put them all in one volume much less a paragraph. Hilare Belloc neatly summarizes the five great heresies as: Arianism, Mohammedanism (Islam), Albigensianism, Protestantism, and "the Modern Attack," each one having a number of individuals who challenged the beliefs of the Church that Our Blessed Lord founded, although Arianism is named after the priest, Arius, Islam is named after Mohammad, and the protestants all look to Martin Luther as their head. Below is a link to Mr. Belloc's book, it is an excellent read.
