It can be dangerous if two female gerbils are introduced. The split-cage method should be used and the females should be young. The split-cage method isn't always guaranteed to work, but if you're patient it is possible that the two can get along.
if they are not born together or grown up together theey will probably fight you can by a cage divider (clear is best) and after a long time alternat the sides of the cagesithout canging the bedding. after a long wile slowly intro duce them for a couple of seconds and gradualy minutes if there are any insidences restart the process
You can't. You need a male.
either one of the gerbils has a defect and has some male parts, or on of them is a male and you aren't very good at telling the difference
only if there sisters
I would suggest not doing that from the start. They can become quite aggressive, and fight all the time.
Yes they will. Hamsters and gerbils are solitary creatures and they wil fight if they feel that someone else is in their territory.
Placing a female or male gerbil if they are not familiar (Family. prior cage mates) could be fatal in other words gerbils are territorial unless they are familiar. But a familiar male and female can be placed in the same cage but no matter if they are family or not and odds are they are they will mate and have pup's.
Yes but u would have to get them at the same age and from the same family of gerbils
There is no way of knowing that unless you have it from a reliable source (i.e. the breeder) that they are siblings.
yes, gerbils like to live in groups like a meerkat in australia. if the cage is big enough, if u have a small cage they will get territorial
No. The gerbil will eat the mouse
No, I wouldn't put them in the same cage, I don't think they would get on too well.
For the most part, yes, they do. Gerbils, like other animals, have individual personalities, however. Some gerbils will not get along with other gerbils, regardless of gender.
The same thing happened to me, I bought 2 female gerbils from the pet store and then found babies in the cage one morning. Check online pictures of male and female gerbil genitalia so you can determine which one is the male. You need to put the male in a separate cage or they will keep mating and making more babies. Gerbils mate again right after the babies are born, so you might end up with another litter even after you separate them. Keep them separate unless you want to breed them, or you will end up with a ton of gerbils! Here's a link to find pics of the gerbils genitalia: http://www.gerbils.co.uk/gerbils/gender.htm
yes but put up a divider to eliminate competition
