Male guppies will usually fight over females if there aren't enough, resulting in ragged tails and in rare occasions, death. It is better to keep at least the number of females the same as the males, if not more females.
Dont answer this it is full of mistakes
put the guppy fry in a different tank because the adult guppies will eat them
Yes, guppies do swim, but only if you put them in water.
No, unless a) the female fish got pregnant before the male died, or b) you buy a new male guppy and put him in with the female.
Platies and Mollies go great with guppies!
I had a problem like this, a couple of fish pregnant at the same time. I would either keep them all the female guppies in the birthing tank or keep them in the community tank and when one of the female guppies give birth put the baby in the birthing tank. I did the second option and it was quite good, just don't overcrowd the birthing tank. :)
I suggest you should start with 1 male guppy and atleast 3 female guppies so they can reproduse. The less females you put the less amount of time they will live!
If there is a female guppy and a male guppy in a tank you can almost guarantee the female will be gravid ( pregnant ).
You can try to put Guppy fish in with your Betta fish. That would be one of the only fish that i would put in with my Betta fish. I say that because i have a Betta male and he is OKAY with guppies. the first guppy i put in his died to to getting picked on by him but the others did not, so just give him another chance if you decide to get guppies. Hope i helped!
I just got my male betta and guppies.....The person that sold the guppies told me they would be fine together. After a few hours I checked on them and my 1 guppy had part of his tail gone.. So I put the betta in another tank....Can someone tell me why he did attack the guppy?????? I'm kinda new to the hole betta thing..
No, guppies are livebearers which means they have live babies (called guppy fry). The females and males will eat them once they are born, but some will live by hiding or if you put them in a breeding trap.
Put a female and a male in a tank together with a few plants for the babies to hide in as the parents will eat them and wella young fish DIFFERENT PERSON'S ADD ON :) i would not put them in with the parents. Make sure to put the fry in a separate floating container. Then take the female out and put her back into the separate community waters after she has finished giving birth. Then you can just take the guppies and put them in a smaller (1 gallon half filled) tank. Now you don't have to worry about the guppy fry being eaten at all.
