If the insurance company runs a credit report, this will put a mark on your insurance showing that it was viewed. Receiving too many quotes or having too many inquiries on your credit can be a bad thing.
If you know the insurance company you can report it directly to them. If not, contact the state company who handles insurance such as the Georgia Department of Insurance. They will be able to help you or to put you into contact with the proper personnel.
You can't MAKE a credit card company reopen an account. You can call the credit bureau and request that they change the status to indicate that is was closed by you and not the credit grantor. Or, you can simply put a notation in your credit report stating that the account was closed by you and not the card company.
If you don't pay your credit card bill, the company may put the nonpayment on your credit report. Also, the credit company may sue you in court.

This hapenned to me in the past. I was registered with experian, I had no defaults on my credit report, however a loan company told me that I had a default on my credit report I then told them that I had checked my experian credit report and it was clean but they told me it was equifax where the bad report was logged on. I checked it and it was for a credit card I had never even heard of. Equifax investigated it and found out in a couple of days that I had nothing to do with it. This was in 2007 about when it was removed. its now 2011 I also found out recently that you can actually sue companies that put false information on your credit report.
Yes, it can still hurt your credit if you voluntarily return a car. The car company will still put the debt you owe on your credit report if they choose too.
If someone owes you money, you can not put a notice on their credit report of an upcoming lawsuit. A judgment must be entered in court, before it can be reported to a credit report.
