A locksmith can clone a key for you. If you lose all your keys, the dealership would be needed for special programming (Reflash ECU).
There are a couple places on line that have them - the price is nearly $200 - and you need to know a locksmith that can flash a key. The Saabsite can reflash your TWICE unit for $600.
I had to go to a Lexus dealer for mine. The keys are lazer cut. Cost me 60.00
New car keys now have a security chip inside of them. The only place that duplicate keys can be made is directly from the Lexus dealerships. Nobody else can make one!
pop the subwoofer out and get a metal cloths hanger
Yes, locksmiths can also help you replace missing or lost keys, reprogram your car keys and remotes and more.
Unfortunately, you cannot do this by yourself. You must go to a LEXUS dealer because these keys are laser precision cut. They only need to know your VIN and they will order the key to be cut from LEXUS. It may take about a week to get your key from LEXUS HQ.
The answer depends upon which ECU your vehicle has. One ECU type ( 32 bit ) is programmed via the OBD-II port, and ECU RESET, KEYS DELETED, KEYS ADDED etc. Locksmiths will have one of 3 diagnostic tools necessary for this task, along with the needed RFID chip keys. The other type ( 16 bit ) has no OBD-II Path to the security modes on the ECU and must be REFLASHED. IT need not be replaced due to lost keys. If you STILL HAVE A MASTER KEY, the programming of additional keys one one of the two types is done on-board, and without diagnostic equipment. SOME dealerships will do the reflash on the 16 bit ECU, but many will tell you you MUST buy a new ECU. A good locksmith can do the job efficiently, often onsite, with more options than a dealer might offer.
Only the dealership can cut a Lexus key because the chip that allows the key and car to communicate is part of the metal part of the key.
Most 2000 Concordes do have chip keys.
