House plants need repotting when they need it. This is not as silly as it sounds. if you feed the plant properly it will live happily in the pot it is in but if the roots are showing on the surface of the pot maybe it is time to pot it up one size.

You should repot a plant once the roots system gets to large for the container it is in. To see if that is happening, simply pull the plant out of the pot it is in. It the roots are all around the sides, then it needs repotted.

Answer This is not necessarily correct. When growing young plants they should be up potted until they reach the required size. Once the plant reaches the final pot, the required size, it should not require any further potting as many plants will not flower unless pot bound. At this stage regular feeding is then required and the plant will be quite happy.

It's best to re-pot plants in March or April because this is the time they get a growth spirt.
