It depends on your body. Not everyone is the same. Some can close in mminutes and others in days. The age of the piercing doesnt always help determine how long it will stay open. I'd just wear a clear retainer in it to make it less noticeable.

Does cartilige piercing hurt bad with a needle?
It's actually much less painful with a needle, and there's a lower chance of infection. The piercing gun can't be cleaned and sterilized properly, whereas the piercing needle is always new and just our of a sterile package. The piercing gun can shatter catilage in some cases, the earring can get stuck in the gun causing trauma to the area when it is yanked out, and the ear-ring causes a bigger hole than the needle.
