It is advised that you don't. That is unless you are young like up to 4th grade. As soon as the girl hits the stage of womanhood she should be wearing the hijab and not take it off.
If she don't take it off how does she take showers? You can take it off if you feel that you are not in the view of any other people who are not muhrim. It's not an iron maiden, it's a piece of clothing to protect your modesty.
