It is possible to renew your vehicle registration with the Texas online website. You have to live within certain counties though to do it and you have to have a credit card and your insurance card in front of you when you renew your registration online.
Go to a NJ DMV office with the old registration, proof of insurance and checkbook. Fill out the forms and the nice people there will give you a fresh document. If no registration exists take the vehicle title with you.
Go to the department of motor vehicles or go to their website and renew it.
You'll just have to renew them when you get back in the country

Renewing your license plate/vehicle registration is very simple to do online. Simply visit the DMV's website for your state and click on the appropriate links to the "Plates and Registrations" section. When you do this online, you'll usually receive them within 10 days.
