First you should determine why the is no sound to begin with?If the entire radio system does not work at all you might have a simple electrical problem within the radios wiring.Possibly a blown fuse, or a loose connection behind the stock radio unit.Installing a new head unit(radio)may be your answer, but then you may have speaker issues as well.
check the speakers
if you have the Bose system you might need to hook up the aftermarket amp wire to the factory amp
Purchase a new or used radio. This one is fried and it is more expensive to repair than replace. A salvage yard is a good source if you want the stay with the OEM system. Otherwise go aftermarket.
you have to power the remote wire, splice it into the power wire, it came with a factory amp. had the same problem.
if you are going to buy aftermarket speakers for you car i suggest you buy a sterio to go with it because the standard radio only pushes out so much wattage which means it only goes so loud. If you want to improve the sound in your car you would need to buy a radio to go with the speakers.
If there is power in the radio but the system is lacking sound then there is a problem with the speaker connections. On the 1997 Dodge Dakota check the speaker connections with a spark tester. If no spark trace the wires to find any loose or incorrect connections.
If you have the Xlt you need a harness adapter that wires to the aftermarket radio harness so that it plugs directly into the factory harness for the aerostar. The reason for this is that it has a factory equalizer that can not be bypassed unless you rip it out and run new speaker wires.Scousch makes an adapter for it, the adapter model numbers are FDK4 or FDK2B.
A radio produces sound, and therefore sound energy. The radio waves, however, are electromagnetic energy, not sound. The function of a radio is to convert that electromagnetic energy into sound energy.
JBL speakers The JBL speakers are included with an optional sound system and not all 2000 solara's have them If your vehicle has the JBL speakers it will have a small JBL emblem on the radio faceplate Also if you have the JBL speakers you cannot replace the stock faceplate with an aftermarket one without also replacing the speakers
you should replace the factory amplifier and that will solve your problem
go to the nearest sound shop and get a wiring harness. the dash snaps off where u can get to the radio go to the nearest sound shop and get a wiring harness. the dash snaps off where u can get to the radio
Did it work before you replace the radio? Is the radio an original equipment radio? If it is original equipment, the radio wasn't the problem, the sound processor under the dash was. If it's an after market radio, you need to bypass the Infinity sound processor or make sure you have a wire connected to remotely turn on the sound processor. If none of this is the problem, check the fuses. In most cases, Chrysler recommends not running your after market radio through the Infinity premium sound system as does G.M. and Ford. You over load the processor and not only that but the ohm rating for your speakers doesn't match. Hope this helps
