They sell a bypass harness for it. You have to use this or must install a rectifier in between all the speaker wires and adjust all the channels of the speakers (front L&R rear L&R) if you use an aftermarket radio or else the speakers will be distorted... The bypass harness is the best way to go and that gets installed under the rear package tray in the trunk where the amp is located. I got mine for free from Crutchfield when I ordered the whole stereo package also got the install kit with the plug adapters too for free. Any stereo store could get you this.
In the trunk, under the package shelf, you have to pull the panel off and you will see the goodies.
Yes but you have to rewire the speakers.
If there is no music but a loud scratching sound coming out of all the speakers then it is the amplifier. just pull it out to get the model number and buy a used one on ebay.

Lincoln Continental Mark VI was created in 1980.
Ask this at The Lincoln Mark VII Club Forum.
I tried and no one would touch it, I pulled it and found that an amp from a 1995 Aerostar was the same right down to the plug. 2 bolt and plug in the harness worked for me.
There is no LincolnMark XIII (13). There is however a Lincoln Mark VIII which is a Lincoln Mark 8. If this is what is meant that model car first debuted in 1993.
