It should be however certain games on windows vista sometimes have to have a "WINDOWS VISTA GAMING COMPATIBLE LOGO ON IT". Try installing it and see what happens if it doesn't work uninstall it. It won't do any damage to your computer.
In the case of MS Golf 1998, the game will NOT install on a computer with Vista.

No golf game was "standard" on Windows 95. Microsoft Golf was released in 1995, but it was not included as part of Windows 95.
Download the Microsoft Windows Entertainment Pack
Microsoft is the corporate that made the Software(Operating System) Windows 7. Explainging MS Windows using a car: VW Golf.
Apparenty not... it complains of wanting Windows 95 or later, but does not seem to recognize that Windows 7 fits that description.
Simple. You don't. You buy 2011 or 2012 version.

YES. First, you have to set the compatibility mode for the SETUP.EXE (right-click on it for properties) to run in 256 colors. You may have to set the Windows 95 compatibility too - I did it anyway although I think it may not be necessary. The game runs normally except for the component windows that are not strictly windows form objects. Fortunately the important windows for the game are standard forms, but the others can be a bit wonky because they seem like MDI type windows. Resizing of the windows is a problem that might be overcome by using autohotkey or some such thing to adjust the Window Metrics. Something to try. Otherwise, this simple, yet entertaining golf game is easy for non-gamers to understand after a little practice; making it ideal for a party diversion. It also moves fast and doesn't take forever for your turn. For an old game, it has stood the test of time.
