It looks like you are asking if a higher amperage motor can replace a lower amperage motor. It depends on what the amperage difference is. If the amperage is high enough to move the capacity of the wire out of its rated value then it should not be done.

Remember motor conductors have to be rated at 125% of the motors nameplate amperage. As the amperage increases so does the HP and the motor's protection will also have to be increased or the motor will trip the lower overload protection settings.

Also keep in mind that if the motor is three phase, running a motor with higher HP on a load that does not need the extra HP, it will lower the power factor of the supply distribution.

You can run two motors together, yes. What you need to watch out for, in amperage, is that the motor can't draw more amperage than the circuit is able to provide.

Does a 5 hp electric motor draw less amperage if it is not doing 5 hp of work?

All motors draw less current when their load reduces.

How many amps will a 24 volt dc motor draw if running at 12 volts?

Depends on how big the motor is. A stronger motor will draw more amps then a weaker or less efficient motor. For example a wiper motor draws far less then a starter motor.

Should all 3 phases of a motor draw the same amperage?

Yes. they should. The windings in a three phase motor are identical, and provided they are fed with a supply that has the phases at the correct voltage, and at the correct 'phase angles' to each-other, they should each draw the same current from each supply line. (Motor windings are a 'balanced' load - they will all draw the same current from the lines if the supply is okay and the windings are connected correctly, and have no shorts or opens in them.) Some three phase motors can be connected to run off of a single phase line, using capacitors to give phase shifts to simulate 3 phase. This is an 'unbalanced' 3 phase supply as far as the motor is concerned, and while it WILL work, the motor will develop less staring torque, less full load power, and more noise - and it WILL draw different currents in each 'phase' while running.

How many amps does a 2HP motor draw on start up?

The rule of thumb for fusing the motor is 300% of the full load amps. To answer this question a voltage value for the motor is needed. That would depend on the type of electricity used and the type of motor. The answer will be different for DC, single phase AC, two phase AC, and three phase. There are many types of motors as well: split-phase, brush less, squirrel cage, synchronous, etc. Each one has different characteristics.

Can you use a power adapter that has less amp input?

The rule with power adapters is generally that the voltage must be the same as the device's input voltage requirements. However, the amperage just has to be equal to or greater than the device's input current requirements. The device will draw as much current as it needs. But, mismatching voltages can destroy electronic equipment.

How do you draw an acute angle?

By using a protractor with the knowledge that an acute angle is greater than 0 but less than 90 degrees

Obtuse acute and right angle draw?

Its pretty easy to draw them just remember that a right angle is an angle thats exactly 90degress ,an obtuse angle is greater than 90 but less than 180 and acute is less than 90degress

Can you wire a 15 amp fan to a twenty amp circuit?

Yes. A twenty amp circuit just means the breaker (fuse) will kick in if you draw more then 20 amps, but its fine to use at less amperage.

What happens if you place a capacitor on a dc motor?

Depending on voltage and amperage needed to run the motor,say,3volts.If you use a 3+volt capacitor what will happen is that the motor will turn once(not rev/min) and stop when the capacitor is completely drained which would occur in about half a second or less. Contributed writer:Dennis Wachira.
