No- other than one or two bits of paper to light the fire. Burning large amounts of paper can result in burning pages being drawn up the chimney, and lighting creosote deposits there. This is known as a chimney fire, and a bad event.

yes you could but the problem there is that paper burns really quickly so it would only be burning for a max 5-20 seconds (A4 piece of paper).
