As long as the fluid was spotlessly clean and of the correct type, it should not have harmed the transmission. The only way I can think of, would be if the hydraulic system became over-pressurized. Which can't happen if it has a pressure regulator valve after the pump. Which is a very common component in a modern transmission.
If the 1990 Buick Century transmission is only shifting well when it is cold, you have to rebuild this transmission. It is likely that the clutch packs or clutches in the transmission are damaged or worn.?æ
1st step would be to change the transmission fluid and filter (if so equipped). may save you the cost of a rebuild.
how do you rebuild 1990 bonneville transmission
you can but it would be easier to drain it from the bottom

The cost to rebuild a transmission depends on what is put into the transmission and the people rebuilding it. In general, it can cost between $2,000 to $4,000 to rebuild a transmission for this car.
It depends on the transmission. Some will overflow any excess, others may cause seal damage, still others, maybe no problem at all. If it's working ok, take the vehicle to a shop and have the fluid and filter changed. If you say anything to a transmission shop about it being overfilled, they'll tell you to rebuild the transmission. That's just a standard answer if they see ANYTHING out of the ordinary. Don't let them rebuild it unless/until it actually starts to fail.
Either the transmission is overfilled or the transmission vent is plugged.

Overfilled transmission fluid isn't the worst thing in the world. Usually it will just either leak a little bit or rob you of your vehicles preformance. If poissible try to drain it to the proper amount. But overfilling transmission fluid is better than not enough. You don't have too much to worry about
Any type of SAE certified transmission fluid can be used in the 1997 Acura. The transmission should never be overfilled.
