Short answer: no.
A clogged fuel filter can cause difficulty starting, poor performance, and inability to maintain speed. These symptoms have very little to do with fuel economy. Change the air filter instead.
Better believe it! Stop driving it. Get that old gas out of the gas tank. Change the oil and filter and change the transmission fluid and filter. you might save it for another 50k miles.

The fuel filter isn't inside of the gas tank. It is in the line somewhere between the gas tank and the engine.
The automatic transmission filter is in the transmission. It has an internal filter just like it has an internal gas filter in the gas tank.
change the spark plugs and wires and change the oil and change the oil filter and air cleaner filter and you should get better gas miles
