You can certainly try. But they are not worth much. You can purchase them from a dealer or on eBay for about $2 per cover or even less. They have almost no real gold, such a thin layer that it would take thousands of them to get a measurable amount.

∙ 13y agoThe post office typically does not do this. There may be exceptions when large quantities have been damaged through accident. In most places, old stamps can still be used.

Certainly they are real - you can touch them and see them . . . I think you may have meant to ask if the gold on postage stamps is real. First, there is no postage stamp with gold on it . . . you are referring to 22k gold stamps made by people to sell to people who think they are buying something valuable. These are called replica stamps and are nearly worthless because no dealer will buy them.

This company produces a variety of products. Their first-day covers are real enough. I think they make gold or gold-plated replicas of certain stamps, which of course, are not real postage stamps. Before I sell a stamp I have to know exactly what I am selling, therefore there is a process of identification and grading. Then the stamp is posted on eBay. You do not have to be a dealer to sell stamps. Collectors buy, sell and trade stamps all of the time.
