No. Two totally different cartridges, and it is HIGHLY unsafe to attempt it. No.
Yes, the Charles Russell 3030 Savage rifle is a lever-action rifle designed by Charles Newton for Savage Arms in the early 1900s. It was designed to shoot the .303 Savage cartridge.
No.
Do not attempt to do this!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <><><><> What he said up there^. With VERY few exceptions, you cannot subsitute one cartridge for another. To do so risks damage to the gun, and injuries to yourself and innocent bystanders. .303 and 7.65 have totally different shapes. The .303 is a rimmed cartridge, 7.65 rimless. Bad idea.
Yes
No.
No, a 303 is a rimmed cartridge, the 308 is rimless.
The cartridge is sometimes called the .303 Enfield or .303 British (or even 7.7×56mmR). Do not attempt to use other ammunition.
Assuming you mean a rifle such as the SMLE, the cartridge used in the .303 Enfield, also called .303 British. See the link below for information on this ammo. However, if you are not certain (some military surplus rifles were rebarreled into other calibers) have a gunsmith take a look at it.
sorry- not a lot of information out there. ONE answer may be a cartridge from the 1930s, known as the 303/22 Falcon. Found in Australia and Canada, it was a cartridge created by necking the standard .303 Enfield cartridge down to a .224 bullet.
No. The L1A1 Self Loading rifle in in caliber 7.62 x51 mm (7.62 NATO) fires a rimless cartridge with a .308 bullet. The .303 Enfield cartridge is a different shape, has a rim, and fires a .311 bullet. If you compare the two cartridges, totally different in shape.
The ,303 Enfield British rifle cartridge is fairly popular, Most well supplied gun shops will carry this ammo, and with adequate proof of age, can be purchased from on-line suppliers.
The 7.62x54R is pretty much the only cartridge that that rifle will shoot. It is a RIMMED bottleneck cartridge, of relatively high power, and does not interchange with 30-06, .308, 8mm Mauser, or .303 British- rumors to the contrary. A POSSIBLE exception would be if the rifle had a chamber insert. These metal inserts are placed in the chamber, and are used with some rifles to permit the firing of pistol caliber ammunition for small game or inexpensive practice. The rifle would be a single shot, and rather awkward to fire.
