It depends on the operating system. If it's a c02 system then NO it's not a problem. If it's a spring system then yes it is bad for the power system. Here's why. When the spring is released it pushes the piston forward in the air tube. The pellet holds in the air until the pressure is so great that it blows out the pellet, however this same pressure also slows down the piston at the last second, slowing it down before it reaches the end of the air tube. With on pellet in the chamber, the piston has no resistance, to slow it down so it SLAMS against the end of the air tube. Eventually it will break something.
C02 system have no pistons just gas and this is not a problem if there isn't a pellet in the chamber.
It depends on the model and the caliber of the Pellet gun.
Is it illegal to shoot a pellet gun in the City Limits of Quincy IL>
The distance that a pellet gun can shoot is determined by the power source that the gun has. Some will shoot a few hundred feet while others with more power will shoot several hundred yards. The weight of the pellet also has an effect on the distance that it travels.
No
we have squirrels in backyard they are distroying pair trees and peacan trees ,is it loegal to shoot a squiirrel with a pellet gun?
None. Never shoot or point a pellet gun at anyone.
No. Bad Idea! BB's a .177 in size not .22
no. Why would you?
Massive yes!!!
the desert in the middle of nowhere
For us to answer, you would have to define "better". I can target shoot at 50-100 meters with a .22 target rifle, and I can't do that with a pellet gun. But I can target shoot in my basement during bad weather with a pellet gun- and I can't do that with my .22s.
While many pellet guns are configured to be able to fire regular BB's, most BB guns cannot fire standard BB caliber pellets. To fire a pellet, the BB gun would have to be a breech loaded or break-barrel loaded design, and the pellets would have to be loaded single-shot.
