there is a slight difference between the 45 and 455. check with a gunsmith ig you wish to have it shoot 45 acp

A 410 shotgun is 410 at the muzzle but imy 3 inch full choke barrel measures only .390 at the muzzle. Do the math ! Can you squeeze .455 lead bullet down to .390 with enough pressure. Answer . Colt or S&W
They are the same exact round. When the .45 Schofield (S&W) round was introduced in the late 1800s people began to refer to the .45 Colt as the .45 Long Colt, or Long .45, because the .45 Schofield was shorter. The name may have changed for a while, but the actual round never did.
