Sneezing with your mouth open is easy since its much more like a body reflex,

but with it closed, might be hard or even painful, its different from one person to the other. But at the same time it clears the nose more than sneezing with an open mouth since all the air now goes through the nasal cavity (thats why it might hurt ) instead of the mouth and nose together. So both ways get the job done. Do what your body wants to do when you sneeze, as long as you have your mouth and nose covered and you turn away from others.

Yes i can,

the reason why sneezes smell bad is because the amount of bacteria and old saliva that was in your mouth sprays into the air as a fine mist or droplet spray when you sneeze.

People then would be able to smell your sneeze by breathing in your saliva that was in the air when you sneezed.

Not very much. People naturally sneeze mostly through their mouths. That's why sneezes make that ACHOO sound. If you sneezed completely through your nose, I think it would so some damage.
